In the mornings, as the sun touches the sky over the mist-shrouded lake and birds in ancient oaks begin their wake-up songs, venture outside and explore your world of nature, water sports, and year-round fun-in-the-sun with southern hospitality.

Lake Wales is located in Polk County and lies among rolling hills on the highest ground in peninsular Florida. This advantageous location gives Lake Wales a climate rich in Florida sunshine without the humidity of the coastal area.
A charming atmosphere all its own, Butch’s Hideaway is accessible by US Highway 27 (north/south) and State Road 60 (east/west). Lake Wales Municipal’s two 4,000-foot paved runways accommodate general aviation. Interstate 4 crosses the state 25 miles to the north and the Tampa or Orlando airports are about an hour away. This private gated community is a one to two hour drive to the Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Mexico, Lego Land, Busch Gardens, Disney, Universal, Sea World and other internationally popular tourist destinations.

- 5 mph safety speed limit... all-terrain vehicles are NOT allowed to be driven on the property
- Must have a valid driver’s license to operate golf carts or other vehicles. Children are not allowed to drive
- Private lighted docks... so go for stroll with your honey or try your hand at night fishing
- Fish cleaning station at the dock. Clean up after use or share with Oscar, our resident white egret (he will come running for his snack)
- Private concrete boat landing
- Pool gathering place, hot spot, game room, TV, and ice machine
- 50/30 amp shaded sites with concrete or wood patios all have electric, water, sewer
- Dump station
- Friendly pets are welcome - Proof of current rabies shot is required - two pet maximum
- The “leash and pooper-scooper law” is mandatory
- SMOKING IS PROHIBITED in rentals and buildings at all times... A $250 fine will be assessed if found in violation
- Pet walks are everywhere except on other RV sites. NO pets in site buildings
- Place litter box and bag residue in a sealed bag in the dumpster
- Place trash in the dumpster. Keep site clean of cigarette butts, bottle caps, etc.
- The “Bird House” is open 24/7 and has clean restrooms and private hot showers. Use of washer or dryer other than the Bird House laundry is prohibited
- Our community fire pit, gas grill and smoker/grill are available seven days a week. Of course, clean up after use! Picnic tables and rocking chairs make you feel right at home... personal BBQ grills are allowed when properly doused
- Only elevated fire pits allowed at your site
- Clotheslines are not permitted... temporary poles are permitted if closed by dark
- No socializing on patios from 11 pm to 7 am
- No encroaching on anyone's site or cutting across common areas
- Pressure washing services available
